The Tyrrhenian Sea is the part of the Mediterranean Sea, which stretches west of the Italian peninsula. It includes the shares of Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria, Campania, Lazio and Tuscany, and is linked to the Ionian Sea through the Strait of Messina and is divided by the Ligurian Sea from Elba, Channel Corsica to the west and the Channel Piombino. This sea takes its name from people dei Tirreni, known as Etruscans.
